November 14, 2011. Flood erosion along the alluvium formations in an area lying above a natural water aquifer near the Ramon Crater. Alluvium (from the Latin, “washed against”) is comprised of loose, unconsolidated soil and sediment (made up of varied materials, including silt, clay, and larger particles of sand and gravel) that have been eroded and reshaped by water in some form before being re-deposited in a non-marine setting. The site is along the ancient road that connected the northern Sinai Peninsula to Jordan, through the Aravah valley.
