October 9, 2011. Signs of erosion and water runoff along a steep descent toward the Nekarot stream that drains the Ramon Crater and flows toward the Dead Sea. The stream, which is approximately 60 kilometers long, begins in the western part of the crater and flows toward the east. This section of the stream is in the vicinity of the Metsad Nekarot, a sentry station founded by the Nabataeans to protect travelers along the Incense Route as they made their way between the southern Arabian Peninsula and the Mediterranean. The site was later abandoned when the Roman Empire took over the Nabataean trade routes.
