Introduction
Every spring, the Arab–Israeli War of 1948 is commemorated as the Nakba (“Catastrophe”) by Palestinians, and by Israelis as the War of Independence. The year 2013 marked the sixty-fifth anniversary of the war. These portraits represent Palestinians and Israelis, born during that period, one for each year, tracing the generations back to that pivotal year of 1948.
