Memory Trace
Memory Trace, the first volume in Fazal Sheikh’s Erasure Trilogy, is dedicated to recording the traces of former Palestinian towns and villages which were destroyed, abandoned, and depopulated in the aftermath of the 1948 Arab–Israeli war. In preserving the memories of displaced survivors and their families, many of whom have never returned to the places of their birth, it reveals the trauma of occupation and denial suffered by the people of former Palestinian territories.
