Patroness of the Americas chronicles the passage of thousands of Mexicans across the border into the United States.

The text relates the story of the apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe to the peasant Juan Diego, and weaves a parallel between the story and the present day reality confronted by Mexicans as they make their way north in search of a better life. It includes the testimonials of men and women who have made the passage, as well as those who have been detained by the US Border Patrol.
