November 22, 2011. Marks of flooding and erosion northwest of the Dead Sea. The soil in this region near the Peres stream is marked by a combination of limestone, dolomite, chert, and fossils. The landscape has been created by gullies that have sealed in the rock, together with the steep gradient to the Dead Sea and the density of the rock, which does not allow the water to seep through. The area is south of the nearly 20-kilometer conveyor pipeline, the trajectory of which has been carved into the desert floor and which transmits raw materials from the Dead Sea Industrial Works to the Rotem Amfert industrial zone.
