October 9, 2011. Planting of the JNF’s Ambassador Forest upon the Bedouin land of al-‛Araqīb, in advance of rain. Following the demolition of the unrecognized village in 2010, the remaining families in the area have been forced to move further from their homes, or to organized townships, as part of the state’s plan to sedentarize the Bedouins. Following a 2011 petition stressing that the legal case for ownership remained pending (see 56), planting was halted, and the space now remains in a state of abeyance, the troughs ready for planting when the case is settled. In the following months, the rate of planting was accelerated in portions of the nearby GOD TV forest (see 44) where the outcry is not as pronounced.
